11 Days Highlights of Kerala

Explore and discover the highlights of Kerela. Get insights into the southern state of Kerala, with its lush green tea plantations, National Parks, sandy beaches and famous backwaters influencing the daily lives of people. Start this tour with its buzzing city of Cochin, then visit the tea gardens and beautiful natural landscapes of Munnar and Periyar National Park before taking an enchanting Houseboat Cruise on the backwaters and ending with a few relaxing days on beaches of Kovalam.

Day 1: Arrive Cochin

Arrive in Cochin and transfer to Hotel. Evening show of Kathakali, the famous dance drama of Kerala, characterized by grotesque gesticulations, amazing costumes and very extensive make-up.

Day 2: Cochin (B)

Morning tour of Cochin visiting the Chinese Fishing Nets, Jewish Synagogue, St Francis Church, the oldest European Church in India, Santa Cruz Basilica, the Dutch Palace and the Spice market.

Day 3: Cochin – Munnar (B)

Morning drive to Munnar, the highest town of Kerala with a cool, bracing climate exuding old-world charm and popular for extensive tea and cardamom plantations.

Day 4: Munnar (B)

Today visit a local Tea Museum and Tea Plantation Estate. Here local tea pickers will explain the importance of regional tea’s grown here. Enjoy the Tea Tasting!

Later enjoy a Nature Soft-Trek inside the Eravikulam National Park famed as the first and most famed national park of Kerala. Amongst other rare flora & fauna here, enjoy sighting Nilgiri Tahr- A world rare species of mountain goats found only here.

Day 5: Munnar – Periyar (B)

Drive to the wildlife reserve at Periyar on a scenic route dotted with plantations of rubber, cardamom, cocoa, green pepper and areca nut. In the evening, enjoy a nature walk through the spice plantation. Learn about various spices and other aromatic plants that are cultivated here.

Day 6: Periyar – Kumarakom (B)

Drive to Kumarakom through the backwaters, ‘Jewels of Kerala’. Visit of Kumarakom bird sanctuary in the afternoon.

Day 7: Kumarakom – Houseboat (B/L/D)

Board your houseboat at mid-day for an exhilarating experience. As you sail down a maze of canals, you see villages, paddy fields, coconut palms, fishermen and local life. Meals and overnight are onboard.

Day 8: Houseboat – Alleppey – Kovalam (B)

Late morning, disembark at Alleppey jetty, also known as “Venice of the East” for its narrow canals and backwaters. Drive to Kovalam for a beach stay. Kovalam is one of the best places to enjoy a traditional Ayurvedic massage.

Transfer to Trivandrum Airport
